Design Philosophy

A designer’s most valuable skill is listening carefully and understanding the client’s needs and wishes and transforming those into reality.

An important consideration with every project is consistency and integrity of architectural design, be it new construction, a remodel, or a decorative update. Additions should complement and blend seamlessly, regardless of style. By extension, space planning and background selections, and furnishings demand harmony of style and aesthetics as well.

During my career, I have traveled throughout the US attending trade shows and researching markets and manufacturers.  Access to many wholesale sources provides clients with substantial savings.

Ample thought is given to the quality, durability, and worth of materials for custom fabrication, an antique, or decor elements.  Moldings, hardware, appliances, lighting, electric, and plumbing plans are carefully researched and considered.

A collaborative relationship is essential between the homeowner and designer. Additionally, teaming with accomplished subcontractors, craftspeople and artisans create a productive and wise synergy.

It is my policy and practice to keep clients informed and engaged with each step and stage of development. Providing visual aids such as drawings and mood boards is helpful for envisioning their finished home.

My measure of success as a designer is entirely dependent on the satisfaction of my clients, which always comes first and last.
