Glorious English Tudor in Brentwood
Paramount in this remodel was maintaining the integrity of the original design—leaded windows, brick, timbers, and a gorgeous pickled oak ceiling with beams and corbels. An extraordinary spiral, cement and iron staircase, the original exquisite living room ceiling and all fireplaces were kept intact and anchored the design. We very carefully selected furniture and fabrics to harmonize with this architectural treasure.
Extensive additional square footage of new construction and an update of the existing kitchen and baths were required for this large family. An added great room and outdoor terrace adjoining the kitchen provided ample family enjoyment space. A master suite and bath, two additional bedrooms and two more baths meant plenty of space for the four teenaged boys.
This being an exceptionally generous and graceful property, we were able to move the pool to the lot rear, permitting addition of an outside dining and lounging area, built-in barbecue, and a designated bath adjacent to the newly-placed pool.
Next, the clients asked for help refurnishing their Kauai vacation home. In a whirlwind and within three months, I studied the site, measured and completed a floor plan, and ordered all furnishings. A full container arrived for installation just in time for the family’s vacation.
